At a TSU conference mathematicians solve environmental safety problems

The All-Russian Conference on Mathematics and Mechanics dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the 140th anniversary of the Tomsk State University has opened at TSU. It will include lectures on mathematics, mechanics and modern supercomputer technologies. More than 120 scientists from Tomsk, Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Krasnoyarsk, Moscow, Kirov, Samara, and Ufa will participate. Also, mathematicians from India, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan, with whom TSU scientists are developing joint projects, will speak at the conference.
In addition to the actual mathematical topics, the conference will also include reports on the mathematical modeling of various natural processes. Most of these works are devoted to issues of environmental safety and reducing damage from natural disasters.
